AVG has deleted contents of my Inbox - how can I restore it?
AVG appears to have deleted all the emails in my Thunderbird Inbox. I received a notification of a suspicious email and inadvertantly let it through, which may have been what caused the problem. The emails in the sub folders are however still there. Advice from Thunderbird on recovering a quarantined Inbox is here. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Anti-virus_Software#Recovering_a_quarantined_Inbox However when I look in the Virus Vault the file is not there. There are no saves for 2016 at all. Can anyone advise me please on how I can recover the missing Inbox file? New emails are now coming through fine and are accessible.
NB Virus vault was set for automatic deletion after 30 days, so file should have been there

Thanks Toad-Hall and Matt,
You're correct. I missed out the "Properties" step. Silly old moi! Have just done it and miracle of miracles, the content of Inbox has returned in all its glory! You are both geniuses (genii?).

right click the folder and select properties and repair. On the off chance this is an indexing issue and not missing data.
Thanks Matt. I tried that - it was somewhere in the Thunderbird advice doc on this site - but when I right click on the Inbox folder or indeed any of my other folders, the "repair" option isn't there. Maybe I have an older version of Thunderbird that doesn't have this option?

You have not read the instructions correctly.
- Right click on Inbox folder and select 'Properties'
- On 'General Information' tab:
- Click on 'Repair Folder' button.
- Click on 'OK'
