Transfered everything from an older Windows 10 computer to a new Win 10 computer using LapLink PCMover. Thunderbird moved over along with emails, and possible more. When I open Thunderbird I can see old emails and it starts downloading new emails and then crashes. How do I fix the problem? If I download Thunderbird will it fix the current installation and connect with my emails and contacts?

No idea if it will fix things, but it might. There is a reason Microsoft tell you to reinstall software, not try and move it. Given copying the Thunderbird profile from device to device normally causes no issues I would assume a reinstall will fix the issue.
