Some protection programs don't like the update/install stubs. Go here for the full installer.

Did you verify that you meet the System Requirements (GTK+ and GLib) for the current Firefox release.

Note that Firefox can only update automatically if you install Firefox in a location in your Home directory that doesn't require root permission.

what are you going on about?

this stuff is not street-user friendly. I want it to load automatically without me having write programs and search system requirements

If you want an easy way then install the Firefox version from the repositories of your distribution. If you can no longer update Firefox for some reason then you will have to update your Linux distribution to a newer version.

... "repositories of your distribution."

Thanks for your help, but in English please.

A repository would be where things are stored. ( a central location in which data is stored and managed.) In this case he is talking about your Firefox version and is it compatible to the Linux version you are running and do you have (things that are stored) these GNU/Linux Software Requirements

Please note that GNU/Linux distributors may provide packages for your distribution which have different requirements.

Firefox will not run at all without the following libraries or packages:
       GTK+ 3.4 or higher
       GLib 2.22 or higher
       Pango 1.14 or higher
X.Org 1.0 or higher (1.7 or higher is recommended)
       libstdc++ 4.6.1 or higher
For optimal functionality, we recommend the following libraries or packages:
       NetworkManager 0.7 or higher
       DBus 1.0 or higher
       GNOME 2.16 or higher
       PulseAudio

So need to find out those 3 things Firefox version Linux Version and the above which should be on the Linux websites in repositories

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thank you PKshadow ... but where do I look to find out what is running? What are the steps? I want to know why Firefox won't automatically update when I go to 'about firefox'. If all this stuff should happen automatically, and mine won't, why isn't all the necessary stuff already on my computer? - everything runs OK except when I want to upgrade Firefox. If this Linnus stuff is so good, why do I always have these upgrade problems? Always have - for ten years or so.
