Why did Firefox remove the countdown timer that coincided with the progress arrow in the toolbar?? I'd really like to see this return so I don't need to open the download progress window. Why even have the arrow if there is no time displayed?

Give this a try;

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-status-bar/ Download Status Bar If you are the kind of person who likes to have total control over every aspect of your downloads, "Download Status Bar" is the add-on you are looking for.

Sorry, but this was hidden in Firefox 54 and removed in Firefox 55. I don't know if there is a satisfying answer to the "Why" question but user interface designers always seem to want to "simplify" things.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a fan of simplification but am a little bummed to see this feature go away. I will check out Download Status Bar.
