Can Firefox Keep This Audio Feature

more options

I used to be able to surf the web using Firefox why having some YouTube music playing in the background. I will be on a Google search engine while YouTube play music in the background in another tab. Now when I try to do that and go to another Tab in a Google search engine, the YouTube music shuts off completely. What happened to this? I really like that feature so much. Can you guys bring it back? So i can play my music and surf the web at the same time. Simultaneously. And if you do bring it back when will you bring it back? Thank you.

Time warp! This was a very hot topic back in May. I'll paste a reply from that era:

This is a change on the mobile YouTube site. Browsers have a feature that sites can use to know when the page has lost focus or the screen is turned off:

https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/Page_Visibility_API

Someone recently posted an add-on that apparently prevents websites from detecting that event. It's called: Video Background Play Fix and has this description:

Some sites may not work with Firefox video background play feature. This add-on provides a quick fix by blocking the Page Visibility API and the Fullscreen API.

I haven't tried it myself, but the poster in this thread said it solves this issue: Please let keep firefox playing on when the main screen is off.

Caution: Pages may use more data and battery than normal if they can't pause when you switch tabs or turn off the screen.

Does that help?
