I have tried all of the pertinent solutions yet Firefox 57 still crawls so what do I do?

Since updating to version 57, no matter what I do to reduce CPU and memory use the browser slows down to a crawl within five minutes of beginning a session. I have ample memory and CPU and have no problems with other browsers. It can literally take up to 30 seconds between when I type anything (including the text I'm typing here) and when the text appears on the page.

Is there a known issue or is it unique to my copy of Firefox?

Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

i don't think the 64-bit version would have anything to do with this. could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? (or if it's to long through a site like https://pastebin.mozilla.org/) this might give us a clue what is going on. thank you!
