I am on a very small VA Disability Pension (total and permanent) and can't afford to make an error with my finances.

I am very slowly getting up to speed on all things Computer related (email, browser, search engines, operating systems, etc).

Because I am also 60 % blind (strokes) I also have great difficulty working with computers (PC Win 7, 4 GB RAM, Intel 5 Dual Core, Dell Studio Desktop) (Android Safelink Lifeline Cell Phone)

Today I experienced a server Computer Infection that disabled all Computer Security (Microsoft Security Essentials and SpyBot Search & Destroy) when I tried to do a Full Scan with MS Security Essentials. I eventually regained full security control and successfully completed a Full Scan with both software anti-malware programs.

Just read a Consumer Reports article on Recommended Anti-Malware-Virus Software for PC and MAC Computers. It recommend Bitdefender Free Edition and paid Internet Security 2018 Edition Software.

I almost always use Firefox (original) Browser for just about everything I do.

But I do have IE and Google Chrome installed because I am a Disabled Veteran and I have to use only those browsers to access Federal DOD Accounts and Federal DES Accounts, etc

I just now did a Chat with Bitdefender Technical Support and they said there is no remaining compatibility problem between Firefox and Bitdefender. 100 % Compatible ? . So I did a search using DuckDuckGo, Bitdefender, Mozilla internet sites and found plenty of problems that appear to have been solved recently ?

I am also thinking of upgrading to Firefox Focus and Thunderbird to improve PC & Cell Phone Privacy and Security.

Bitdefender recommends uninstalling all Security Software before attempting to install any Edition of Bitdefender and the Technical Support Person I Chatted with confirmed this.

The Technical Support Person recommended Bitdefender Total Security 30 day free trial version because I was going to install the Free version to test it out and then if it had no problems with Firefox, Google Chrome, and IE then I was thinking of upgrading next month April 2019 to the Internet Security 2019 Edition.

Right now Bitdefender has a special price on the Total Security Edition of 44 USD as apposed to the 40 USD for the Internet Security 2018 Edition

What do you all think I should do ? Install Bitdefender Total Security 30 day trial and then upgrade to paid 44 USD Edition ?

Thank You oh so much for any and all your time and thoughts on this issue of Compatibly Privacy and Security.

I would recommend to use MSE that is free since you already own Windows 7. I used MSE when I had Windows 7 and had no issues with it and as of now I am using Windows 10 with Defender the upgraded version of MSE and so far it works just fine not big issues.
