When I search for a site or book title in the search bar, I get a page all in Polish. Most annoying. Using Duck duck go I have no problem Is the problem with Firefox or Google?

That sounds like progress.

In the U.S., I have not seen Google ask for consent to set cookies. I think that is a special feature for users in Europe where the privacy laws are stronger.

Generally speaking, Firefox directs searches to the .com site and indicates your preferred languages from the Options page. To review those settings:

Choose display languages for multilingual web pages

But Google search also has its own language preferences. If check this page, are they set to English:

Hi jscher Thanks for your suggestion. I have ensured that I have English selected in FF Options & I have done Google. When I first open Firefox and search for an object, site etc in Google, I no longer get the Polish problem but the same page but in English. This mentions the use of cookies etc by Google and I cannot get rid of/ignore this page unless I set my preferences and agree.

When I exit FF it is set to remove all history etc, by default. I have not been using a computer for a year [in and out of hospital] so something has happened to my searching in Google. I know I had quite a few things to update.

Yes - some progress made. However, each time I open FF and Google search, I have to confirm/decline/accept their cookies. At least that page/pages are now in English. No wonder Google are facing a class-action lawsuit over 'Incognito Mode' - I don't think this effects me and my version of Google??? Thanks for your input - I have marked the thread as helpful and solved.
