Hi, I have a primary password set on my browser. Recently, I have found that I no longer need it because I don't store logins and passwords in Firefox anymore on any of my synced devices. But when I go to about:preferences#privacy , scroll down to the section about logins and passwords, uncheck the box that toggles the primary password on and off, the box still stays checked after entering my primary password to confirm. I'm sure my password is correct, as I wouldn't be able to login to my sync settings otherwise.

So why can't I disable my primary password? Is this some kind of bug?

Did you try to change the Primary Password and leave the new password field(s) blank ?

You can also remove key4.db in the profile folder to remove the PP and possibly remove logins.json to remove saved logins.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
