I've been doing this sort of exercise for some time, but I want to verify exactly which files and folders I can confidently transfer from one profile to a new or an already established profile without causing unexpected issues.

According to Recovering important data from an old profile , these are the files that can be moved:

places.sqlite favicons.sqlite key4.db logins.json permissions.sqlite search.json.mozlz4 persdict.dat formhistory.sqlite cookies.sqlite cert9.db handlers.json

I also include:

The "sessionstore-backups" folder sessionCheckpoints.json sessionstore.jsonlz4

Here's the list I need feedback for:

The "settings" FOLDER

activity-stream.discovery_stream.json activity-stream.topstories.json AlternateServices.txt autofill-profiles.json blocklist.xml broadcast-listeners.json cert9.db compatibility.ini containers.json content-prefs.sqlite notificationstore.json pkcs11.txt protections.sqlite SecurityPreloadState.txt serviceworker.txt signedInUser.json SiteSecurityServiceState.txt targeting.snapshot.json Telemetry.FailedProfileLocks.txt Telemetry.ShutdownTime.txt times.json webappsstore.sqlite xulstore.json

Please also let me know if any other folders are ok to relocate as well.

Thanks, but I'm familiar with all those concepts. I'm not looking for sync advice.

I use the Firefox profile manager to manually create multiple, portable profiles.

All I need to know is what files I can manually transfer from one profile to another. Files that are perhaps not unique to a particular profile due to it's unique configuration, that may cause some type of conflict or corruption, or unforeseen problems when moved to a new profile.

For example, moving addons.json, extension-preferences.json, extensions.json, extension-settings.json, and the extensions folder to another profile that has either no addons installed, or a different set of addons installed.

Hi Dropa,

Please re-read my posts.

As i mentioned earlier, given my personal experience, what is stated in that Mozilla article I offered the link to, and common knowledge regarding Firefox, certain files can absolutely be moved successfully from one profile without causing problems.

I listed the files that meet those standards in the column "According to Recovering important data from an old profile , these are the files that can be moved:"

All I want to know is can any of those files I listed as "Here's the list I need feedback for:" be relocated to a different profile.
