Since updating to 3.6.6 today, Firefox can no longer access the web, even after I update the Norton I.S. firewall setting.

I updated to 3.6.6. today. Now Firefox will not access the Internet. The web-page screen is solid blank white. I have Norton Internet Sec 2010. I updated the firewall setting, but this does not fix the problem.

I am the person who first posted this question yesterday. After reading other postings this morning, I followed the advice to "restore" 3 Mozilla files which had been quarantined by Norton Internet Security yesterday. My Firefox 3.6.6 now works great. I'm having the same problem with 3.6.6 that I had with 3.6.4:

" The proxy server is refusing connections"

That's with all websites I try to go to including Firefox. I restored 3.6 and it runs.

What can I do to get the updates to work???

Exact problem and solution as above.....

FireFox 3.6.6. no longer able to connect to the internet when Norton360 v4 removed the following files which belonged to FireFox: freebl3.dll softokn3.dll nssdbm3.dll

Get Norton 360 to release these files from quarantine. Also, I'm not sure what these files actually do, so that should be made clearer by Mozilla.

Hey Steve: Probably for good advice for some of the folks who are running Norton but I happen to run AVG Free. Now, this laptop is running 3.6.6 OK but my desktop had to be downgraded to 3.6 and everytime Firefox upgrades it 3.6.4 & 3.6.6 it upchucks. How can I turn the auto off until I figure out a solution? BTY, both are running XP 2

You can stop FireFox updating itself by going to Tools:Options:Advanced:Update. Then uncheck the update box.
