never had any problems before. I can for ex listen to internetradio through VLC but not in FF (I have 3.6.8) All audio is activated and volume is on and max online. I´ve installed latest flashplayer. I´ve searched internet but no solution.

addition to above:

this problem is clearly directly linked to my xp-repair from cd. Everything was OK before with no problems.(I have just a few plugs anyway)

A thought: overinstall FF once more?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I updated windows and it came back! (don´t know really which update - maybe MS audio or Media or directx - or something else....)

here is 2 links I found that can be useful for this kind of problem when all updates are installed and it wont function.

This is a copy of the list of things I suggested to another person I was helping who had the same problem:

1. Uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers

2. Install K-lite codec pack http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...d/1094057842/2

3. Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Tweak Tool and check the box next to [Registry] Fix non-working system sound

4. Make sure the volumes are not set to zero and that nothing is on mute Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > under Device Volume, click on Advanced

5. Make sure that everything in Device Manager is fine (no yellow or red marks) Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager

6. fixnoflashsound.reg (just click on the link and install it) http://files.filefront.com/fixnoflas.../fileinfo.html

7. netvol.reg (just click on the link and install it) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/netvol.reg

Made sure speakers are properly connected to sound card

Run SFC /Scannow Start Menu > Run > type this in exactly (note the space between C and /): SFC /Scannow

Tried different Video player

Installed Quicktime Alternative

Reinstalled DirectX

Confirmed presence of "plug and play software device Enumerator"

Made sure that default devices were selected Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio tab

Confirmed the presence of msacm32.drv and msacm32.dll Search for these files in C:\Windows\System32


Tried using different settings in the sound card’s configuration window

Installed Microsoft ADPCM Audio Codec and IMA ADPCM Audio Codec

for %x in (C:\WINDOWS\System32\*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %x
