Try importing them via the bookmarks organizer.

  1. In the menus select "Bookmarks", and then "Organize Bookmarks..." to open the bookmarks organizer (also known as the Library)
  2. In the Library select "Import and Backup" and then "Import HTML"

Does this give you the option to import from Internet Explorer?

If it does not, export the favorites in IE to an HTML file, and then import the HTML file into Firefox. This process is described in the Import Internet Explorer Favorites from another computer article.
