Happened in conjunction with adding 16GB of Ram to my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit system (Dell XPS 8100 - no problems with other programs) and the Tuesday, October 12 mass update from Microsoft.

Cannot find an article to help. Can't import bookmarks from IE, or restore from the firefox backup file. Doesn't appear to be two profiles running. At a loss and would prefer not to just dump Firefox and revert to IE. Any help would be appreciated.

Followed every one of the many branches to this link. Not a single thing helped. Ultimately completely removed Firefox from my desktop and then reinstalled it (importing my address book from my laptop). Makes me a lot less of a fan of Mozilla, if the program is this inherently unstable.

This issue can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
