The desktop shows when I turn on my computer, but now Firefox opens instead. I deleted Firefox from my computer and then downloaded it through Safari, but the problem persists. Under Firefox Preferences, Firefox is NOT my default browser. Even if it were, it should not automatically open, as it does now. I turn shut down my computer when I am done. I do not put it in Sleep mode.

I think this is a problem for a lot of mac users, especially if you're using Snow Leopard. To fix it: Click and hold on the FireFox icon in your dock. Then uncheck Open at Login. Hope that helps.
