Each time I log in I get a message saying Firefox is no longer protected against online attacks and to get the upgrade. I download the upgrade every time but I still get the same message when I open a new page or log on. What's going on?

It is possible that you may need to take extra steps to run and install the upgrade download that you are trying to get. Such as

  • disabling security software (remember to turn it back on)
  • ensuring you are using an administrative account

Click Help -> About firefox, what version does it show ?

  • current version is 3.6.15, it seems you may be on an old 3.0 not a current 3.6
  • for detailed instructions see Upgrading to Firefox 3.6
