I am running Firefox 4 but it looks identical to the old version that it replaced

I have just downloaded and installed Firefox 4. When it opened for the first time, it looked like Firefox 4. After shutting down and reopening, I am seeing what appears to be the old version (ie, Classic Compact theme is used, colored tabs working, weather bar is on, all should not work now). When I check the version, it says I am running Firefox 4.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).

There is a "Tabs on Top" item in the right-click context menu of a toolbar and in "View > Toolbars" to place the tab bar at the top.
