When i open a new tab, a blank page appears. I have to hit the home button for my home page to appear. Is there a way to just have the home page automatically load when I open a new tab?

You can Middle-click the Home button to open a new tan with your homepage.

Or you can install the New Tab Homepage extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777
