Will I lose all my bookmarks if I download and replace Firefox 3.6 with the newest version, Firefox 5?

I have recently updated Firefox 3.6. I now want to update to the newest version, Firefox 5. However, to do this I must download from scratch, rather than just updating my current software. In order to save the new Firefox (5) on my Mac OS X 10.6.2 I must replace the old version of Firefox (3.6). If I do this will I lose all my saved bookmarks (which are saved on Firefox 3.6)?

No, you shouldn't lose your bookmarks if you update.

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

If you get problems with the bookmarks a possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
Such problems can be caused by Firefox using the native SQLite provided by the OS on a Mac.
