Firefox does not find my wireless HP 6500 printer.
Running Firefox version 9.0.1 (Just now upgraded from 8.0.1) on a Windows 7 PC. Just installed a HP Officejet 6500A wireless printer. Printer works fine from Chrome, IE and Microsoft Word, but Firefox apparently cannot find it. Print command does nothing. Print Preview command generates a note stating that a printer can not be found. I no longer have the HP Deskjet 970Cse or the Cannon MP210 printers installed on my computer.

Update:: Although I don't print that much I was upset about not being able to use my third HP printer & swear will never buy another one.. I was determined not to go out & buy a new printer "yet" since this one is only 2yrs old.. So this a.m went onto HP site searched around & downloaded a HP Detection Program (?) whatever that is to see if I could find/fix the problem myself.. Once I downloaded that I scanned the update files for the printer & ran that & YEAH did it & I haven't had my morning coffee yet either.. OK happy now no need to buy a new printer "yet".. Ckd my FF plugins & there's a plugin for my printer YEAH.. Problem solved so far until next time.. TY

Upgrade your browser to Firefox 9 and check
Already been done with no favorable results. Thanks anyhow.
With a new printer installation, reset the print.print_printer preference. You may also need to reset the print.printer_(printer name)_ preferences shown as user set.

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:
- Plug-in check --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in: Installing (or Updating) the Shockwave plugin with Firefox
- Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape: Installing/Updating Adobe Reader in Firefox
- Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash or Flash): Updating Flash in Firefox
- Next Generation Java Plug-in for Mozilla browsers: Installing or Updating Java in Firefox
Don't know why, but after updating the Java plugin Firefox seems to find my printer with no problems. Thank you.

Be sure to double check default printer in Printers and Faxes as my fax was selected after uninstalling. Hope this helps!
OK, its not a new HP printer install but when I did the FF9 upgrade I lost the plugins for the printer so now I can't print.. Do I just go out & buy a new printer that likes FF ? My Java is UTD checked that already.. Lost 2 of my Kaspersky features the URL Advisor & the Digital Keyboard but Kaspersky states a FF patch/upgrade is on its way.. However, while I am not a big printer person (save the environment) I do like knowing its there to use when I need it especially since its only 2 yrs old.. Is there a fix & how do I get the plugins back ?
TIA ♥
