Would Sync prevent the owner of a computer from copying or spying on all my emails and sites visited?

I apparently have a very insecure boyfriend who finds it necessary to have access to all my email accounts (1 for business, 1 for school, 1 for junk) and sites I have joined (several cooking, online surveys, coupons, etc) &/or visited. I happened across some papers that had my email accounts and the passwords to those accounts in addition to copies of email between myself and friends. We have a family account for the phone and I found out he gets copies of every text I send and receive and copies of all pictures also. Would Sync provide the privacy I seek?

Sorry to read that.

Unfortunately Firefox Sync is not going to help you with the privacy. Sync helps you to sync your data across computers and phones while keeping it private. It doesn't help much against insecure boyfriends who already have access to your devices.

My advice will be to change the passwords of your services as often as possible and use the Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. And for the phone, talk to your provider.

Unfortunately, these advices will not change the behavior of your boyfriend.

Hi,

Sync won't provide you with additional privacy.

But, you can take some other measures to browse the web without leaving a history of sites visted. Using Private Browsing is one way: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Private-Browsing

You can also clear your recent history to prevent others knowing what sites you have visited in the event you weren't using Private Browsing at the time: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History
