I followed a Mozilla Support article about manually uninstalling a plugin. I got the plugin removed but I remember I had to change a value from true to false or from false to true in the about:config of my Firefox browser. I can't, for the life of me, find this article again and can't remember if I changed this value back afterwards.

First of all, does anyone know what article I'm talking about?

Would this value be something that could negatively affect my experience? (Change something or make something not work right until it's reset to the original value?)

And finally, would uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox reset all the values in the about:config? Would something special need to be done to make the about:config reset? (I don't particularly want to delete all my bookmarks, logins, preferences, etc. though...)

Thanks!!

There is a way to expose the full path on disk for a plugin to make it easier to find. It is recommend to turn that off after using it. (This is because websites can read that path and thereby discover some information about your system that you might prefer not to reveal.)

Does that sound familiar? That preference is called plugin.expose_full_path

it's set to "False"

Thank you! I'm going to call it solved and not worry about this :p

BTW, that pref isn't need to view the full path to plugins in Firefox 22.0 - plus versions. about:plugins automatically shows the full path without changing plugin.expose_full_path to true.

And any users who did toggle that preference to true in the past should change it back to false.

Note that you should leave the plugin.expose_full_path pref set to false to avoid exposing that full path of all plugins to websites via the navigator.plugins array.

As posted above, current Firefox versions always show the full path of all plugins on the about:plugins page via a Path line and also show the State (enabled or disabled).
