Why is Firefox constantly trying to direct me to other web site Pogo on line games to be exact.
Fire fox keeps preventing the POGO site of which I am glad and I keep closing the page and it keeps wanting to redirect and Firefox prevents it. This has become a never ending cycle that is driving me nuts.

If I misunderstood your post and you are trying to block a pop-up window or new tab ad, if it isn't being generated by the site you're visiting, it could be generated by one of your add-ons.
Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized add-ons on these two tabs:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
If you can do without it for 24 hours, go ahead and disable it. Likely a link will appear above one or more of the disabled extensions to restart Firefox. You can click that as the last steps after you've finished your review of the list.
Any change?

Firefox has an option to stop and ask permission for certain redirects. You can turn that back off here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"
Does that allow you to get to Pogo normally?
Firefox 23 includes a new feature to block unsecured content (HTTP) in a secure page (HTTPS). In that case, you will see a new "shield" icon to the left of the URL on the address bar. This allows you to reload the page including all of the content, but perhaps that isn't working well on Pogo? The following article has more information on this mixed content blocking feature: Mixed content blocking in Firefox
