Formerly, I was able to open a new tab by clicking on the + sign to the right of the last open tab. In v24, I find that clicking the + sign has no apparent effect.

hello jheise, this issue is probably caused by the google-toolbar which you have installed, but which is no longer maintained by google for quite a while now. you might want to use an addon like https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/googlebar-lite/ as an alternative or see https://support.google.com/toolbar/answer/1342452?hl=en&topic=15356.
