Any time I click the menu options (File, Edit, View, etc.), or any time I hover over an item that causes a text bubble to appear (any of my tabs, any images which display text when hovered over), or any time a Firefox attempts to autocomplete a form, I hear the Window's 'bing' soundeffect. A number of 'bing' noises are also made whenever I start Firefox.

This issue began happening this morning after I updated to the latest Firefox version, 26.0, from version 25.0. Adobe Flash asked to update before this issue began and I allowed it.

I have tried booting Firefox in safemode, which stops the problem, and so I assumed an add-on of mine was not compatible and was behaving strangely. I uninstalled and went back to version 25.0 but the problem persisted.

I then uninstalled all my add-ons, but no difference was made. I then reset Firefox from the browser's Trouble Shooting section, but this did not fix my issue either.

The noise is the same one that occurs when a new window opens and prompts the user to select an option.

I have tried reinstalling Adobe Flash to no effect.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
