when I open Fire fox "Mysearchdial Search" opens and i am over whelmed by popups.

Is Mysearchdial associated with fire fox? if not how can I get back to fire fox? I have tried to reinstall fire fox several times and have run several antivirus scan programs. i am getting popups like crazy and after several minutes multiple windows start opening.

Most likely you have an unwanted extension that is injecting inappropriate ads into sites. Try this:

Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that get rid of the ads?


You might also need to check for hijacking of your Firefox program icon. If it's on the desktop, right-click and choose Properties. If it's pinned to the taskbar, right-click, then right-click Mozilla Firefox, then choose Properties. On the Shortcut tab, the Target line should be the following, no more, no less:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

By the way, if there is no Remove button for an unwanted extension, that typically means it was installed externally to Firefox. Look for it, and possibly other bundled garbage, in the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Clicking the "Installed on" column heading will bring the most recent infections, I mean additions, to the top.

Hi cars,

you can run a scan of your computer with adwcleaner as well. It will search for and deletes Adwares, Toolbars, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP), and browser Hijackers from your computer. I personaly did it on the pc of some of my friends and it works fine. Hope this will help you.
