Up until just a few days ago I could download pdfs from websites through Firefox. As far as I know I did not upgrade or change anything. I followed all of the tutorials, the Troubleshooting Information tips, deleted profile.ind files, added the PDF viewer 0.6.39 and that does not work.

I am on a Mac, OS 10.6.8

Firefox 17

Hi elaineret,

What happens when you're trying to download PDFs, do you get an error message? Does it happen with only one website or more? It would be great if you could provide a little more details, they will be very helpful in understanding your issue.

Thanks!

Basically what happens is the link to the pdf resolves as a url, but the pdf does not download or appear. So if I click on a link that is a pdf link, I get the complete url, but no pdf.

This is not restricted to one particular site, it is universal.

In Safari all links and pdf downloads work fine.

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader

PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document.
