I have a notice in the bottom right of my Thunderbird screen stating 103mb of 110mb IMAP total (93%) has been used.

I presume there will be consequences should this reach 100%!

My mail server is showing no issues of quotas being reached.

Is this an issue that relates to Thunderbird quotas?

Can anyone advise how I can reduce the 103mb total that is being shown?

Many thanks in advance.

I have just altered my Hotmail settings in Thunderbird to take account of the Microsoft OAuth2 requirements. I can still send from Hotmail but cannot receive (download) incoming messages.

When I open Thunderbird, or check for email, I see the text "******@hotmail.com: Host contacted, sending login information......." at the bottom but no messages are downloaded, and eventually the text disappears (I know there are messages waiting as I can see them using the Outlook app)

My server settings are; Server type : POP Mail Server Server name: pop-mail.outlook.com Port: 995 User name: ******@hotmail.com Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2

I have tried restarting both my PC (Windows 10) and Thunderbird, but the problem persists. Help please!

My Local Inbox suddenly started to arrange itself by group according to correspondent. I can't get the emails back into chronological order. I can't work with a mail program that doesn't give me my messages in chronological order, with most recent at the bottom. If I did something to cause this change, please tell me how to undo it. I have about eight email addresses, and they all feed mail into the Local Inbox.

I was getting warnings from my e-mail server that I was near the mailbox size limit, and Thunderbird displayed a percentage bar in the lower right corner. I've deleted a lot of large messages and want to see how far I am from the limit now, but now the bar isn't displayed. Is there a way to refresh this? Or is it a warning that's only pushed from the server?

(Unfortunately, my webmail site doesn't compute the size correctly and shows me at over 400%, so I can't see the actual size there until the server sends me another warning.)

A long-standing university email account that I accessed through Thunderbird was recently mistakenly deleted by the institutional administrator and all its contents deleted. The institution subsequently established a replacement email account for me, but the institutional Help Desk said the emails from the original account had been erased and could no longer be accessed from their server. Fortunately, I had Thunderbird configured to save all my emails on my local machine, so that even though I can no longer log in to the original email account, I can still view the emails in my Thunderbird installation (i.e., open and read them), even though every instance of starting up Thunderbird calls for me to supply the password for the original account (which I can no longer do). So I just close that dialogue box and can still see the emails stored locally on my machine.

I would like to move (or copy) these emails to a location where I can still access them off line and view them in the original organizational scheme (if possible), under the headings "subject," "correspondents," and "Date." But the Thunderbird "archive" feature seems to require that I be able to log on to the institutional server under the original account, which I can no longer do. The only existence of these emails is on my local computer.

Is there a way for me to preserve these emails as an accessible archive/repository so that I can continue having access to them, even though they are no longer in a functioning email account?

Thanks for any suggestions/help.

I'm trying to read some old emails in an account from around 20 years ago that I have kept in Thunderbird the entire time. I stopped using the account, but kept it configured as it always had been with the old email saved in it. The emails are in several folders in Thunderbird, and I can see them listed when I select a folder, but the content of most of them is now invisible. For many years I upgraded Thunderbird and they remained visible, and I naively assumed that would always be the case. I think the visibility problem happened after a Thunderbird upgrade sometime within the last few years. Strangely, a few emails are readable. I think they're the last ones I viewed before I became unable to see additional ones I select to view. I believe all the data is still there, but I don't know how to read it. In the file system, here's what my Thunderbird profile Mail directory looks like:

/Users/myMacUser/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/my-random.default/Mail account.server.name - TB Email Folder 1.sbd (empty directory) - TB Email Folder 1 (no file extension, apparently the file containing the email data. File sizes suggest they contain data) - TB Email Folder 1.msf (the index file, apparently readable) etc.

I'm using Thunderbird 115.12.2 on MacOS Sonoma 14.5. I tried several types of exports with the ImportExportTools NG extension, but it just exported zero byte or blank files for the invisible emails.

How do I read these folder data files?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro (64-bit). I have two different versions of Thunderbird installed on my system; one is installed in Program Files (64-bit version 125.0.0.0 dated 04/23/2024—old version) and the other is installed in Program Files (x86) (64-bit version 115.12.2.0 dated 06/25/2024—the current version). The shortcut icon on my desktop (which I never use) runs the older version located in the Program Files folder while the shortcut icon on my taskbar (and also the one in my Start menu) runs the updated version located in the Program Files (x86) folder.

As an aside, there are 21 .dll files in the Program Files (x86) folder (all starting with api-ms-win and dated 09/27/2023) while none of those files are in the Program Files folder.

FYI, I have been using Thunderbird on this PC for almost five years.

How do I fix this problem so that I have only the current version of Thunderbird run from the proper folder, Program Files?
