I have just been upgraded to this latest version for my Sony Vaio laptop using Windows 7. When I click to Firefox logo in the system tray it opens up in a new tab/window. How can I prevent this please?

Why were you clicking the Firefox logo? What was suppose to happen?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I should have said the Firefox Icon on my Task bar. Previously clicking on the Icon would open or minimise the Firefox page. Now I find that it opens another Window and Icon further along the Task bar. This morning it doesn't seem to be doing this. Hopefully it will stay this way.

However I get the same thing all the time with Google Chrome and I haven't been able to find a solution to this.

If a problem is with two separate programs, the computer system may have problems. When you right click these icons, do you get a menu list?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
