Since Firefox update 31, I cannot reply to incoming emails. When I try to send an email or reply to one I get this message: Unable to Load Null Status: 404. I use Verizon webmail and they say it's a Firefox problem. Using Mac Mini Mac OS-X 10.6.8

Unable to load Null Status:404 error appears with send a reply or to forward an email OR Save draft of a reply.

The msg occurs when SEND or SAVE DRAFT is actually selected.

Save Draft WILL WORK only for a new email.

Both "Reply" and "Forward" work just fine with both IE and with Chrome. Any version of Firefox 31 (even the one on ChrUbuntu, which runs on my Chromebook) has the same problem. This is definitely a Firefox 31 issue, since Firefox 30 worked just fine on ALL of my devices. I don't like using Chrome as much as Firefox, because it uses different (and smaller) fonts by default, but since I am so dependent on Verizon Webmail working properly, I will do whatever I need to do, even if it means leaving Firefox behind.

Hi andyjnsn, with hundreds of changes in each release of Firefox, it's going to take some time to track down the issue, but people are currently looking at it.

Regarding the font size in Chrome, does zoom fix the problem? I believe Chrome uses the same keyboard shortcuts for zooming as Firefox: hold down the Ctrl key and tap + to enlarge and - to reduce.

Posted elsewhere: Unable to load null status:404 when replying in Verizon webmail. Error appears in its own window. It seems to be related to MIME-encoded incoming messages. I can open a new message window and copy/paste the reply-message into the new message and then send it without the error. Trying to save-as-draft also gives the same error message. This is recent after update to V.31 of Firefox on Win7(Sp1).

The developers believe they have identified the change in Firefox 31 that is related to this problem. They are working on a fix, but I wouldn't expect it to become available for at least several days. Then there may be "try" builds of Firefox available for testing to confirm that the fix works before it gets baked into a future release.

@jscher, Thanks for update. Will check in a few days.

Thanks for reporting the acknowledgement of the problem and that a fix will be forthcoming, if not soon enough. Keep up posted, please.

Thank you! It is nice to know that help is on the way!

Hopefully once you get it worked out you can fix the v32 beta version as well. It's broken in that too.

7/28/14 10:07 EDT problem was on my Samsung tablet and 2 laptops. One laptop switched to Version 29 which works, other laptop is working on IE and Tablet is dead in water.

I will be so happy when the fix is available. While Chrome can handle the "Reply/Forward" issue, it screws up when I try to drag/drop an email into a folder, and doesn't seem to support doing "Sort by Date" at all.

I was having the same problem as everyone here. I could not forward or reply to any emails in my verizon email. This has been going on for a few days. I found your forum and decided just to wait it out and see if it got fixed. Right now it works fine just wanted to let everyone know. Thanks for all the information on the forum.

Hi folks:

Try your Verizon email again. I don't know why or who but I just replied to an email and it worked. To check I then forwarded a random email to my public account. No problems.

So version 31 is working with my Verizon email.

How about yours?

Andy, It appears that as of 8:45 EST 31 July 2014 that this bug has been fixed. I am now able to reply to messages, forward messages, and save a reply to draft. These are all the past failures that caused me to enter the trouble report.

Whoever was responsible for the fix, A GIANT THANK YOU!!!! I really disliked using Internet Explorer. Firefox is a 10 times better platform!!

I hope all the other Verizon users on FireFox get the word quickly.

I sent myself an email and was able to reply with no trouble.

Thanks to everyone who was in on "the fix". Email is working fine now with Mozilla. Thanks again!

Since nothing appeared to have changed in Firefox, I suspect that something may have changed with Verizon Webmail. The same browser software that failed the other day is working fine now.
