Photos will not load on the Find A Grave website. Problem occurs with both Firefox 27 and 33. Have completely uninstalled and reinstalled. Have disabled all add-ons and have also tried a safe start. Problem does not occur with Internet Explorer. I'm about to move from Firefox to Chrome because of this problem. Was also having problems with Comcast Xfinity videos but these seem to have been resolved.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.

  • Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images

  • Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.

Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

Cor-el - Thank you very much for your suggestions. I am going to save your message. Before I received it, however, I decided to uninstall and then reinstall Firefox (v.33). In Google I searched on "find firefox profile" because I didn't want to lose my bookmarks. There were instructions about how to find the path to the profile but there was also a little box that said:

"Reset Firefox to its default state. If you're having major problems which you can't resolve, start fresh with only your essential information."

I thought that if that worked, it would be easier than an uninstall/install so I clicked on the box and it worked! The plug-ins are all there although I may have lost some other customizations.

Thanks again. - Anne
