how do I get a list of bookmarks instantly like the older versions of mozilla
my wife has what i guess is an older version of mozilla where she clicks the bookmarks icon and bang, there is a list of all the websites she has bookmarked. No moving the hand form the mouse to type on the keyboard, no struglling to remember which website it is because she is looking at a list, no having to dredge the name out of her memory.
Why on Earth did mozilla make it harder and not easier to see a list of bookmarked websites?
If I have this all wrong, please set me straight or tell me how to make changes to get the result i want: instant list.

Do you mean the bookmarks sidebar?
- You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or "Ctrl+B" (Command+B on Mac)
- You can toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or "Ctrl+H" (Command+H on Mac)
Current Firefox releases have a "Show sidebars" button in the Customize palette and in the Show your bookmarks drop-down list (drop market next to the star on the location bar).
- "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
- View > Toolbars > Customize
closer than I was to one-click-list but not nearly as convenient as before with the old version.
You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to get some extra toolbar buttons including one to open the bookmarks sidebar
- Classic Theme Restorer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
- You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
- You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)
