What happens when both browser.cache.disk.enable and memory.enable are set to "true"?

I'd like to move my Firefox browser cache to main memory, having weighed up the benefits and drawbacks.

My question is: what happens when both the "browser.cache.disk.enable" and "browser.cache.memory.enable" configs (with the capacity config also set) are set to "true"?

Is data cached to both memory and disk? Does memory take precedence over disk in this case?

Thanks, thecosmicfrog

I have both enabled, and both are used. The disk cache is over 10 times the size of the memory cache, and the number of files there is much greater.

You can check the cache usage on the about:cache page.
