I just bought a new Windows 7 desk top computer by dell (Model 3847). My Vista finally died after 7 years. I have been able to set this one up just like I did with Vista. So I have been looking at things that I have never had much time or interest in or COULD FIND. LOL. So I found properties and saw that no Windows 7 checked. The same thing is on IE 11. I thought something had to be checked to avoid crashing or rejecting a download.

With this new computer I have had 3 crashes. I would like to know if FF is compatible with Dell and its products. I have always had Dell and never had problems until 3 days ago when Vista OS quit on me.

I did find out that you do not have to register with Microsoft because I believe the top person forgot to add it in the system. They just want people to join Windows Live or anything Windows.

Well I am learning a lot about Windows all over again. Microsoft should bring back XP. It was the only stable system.

For best results, do not use any of those Compatibility options on Windows 7. Firefox is very mature on Windows 7. If you get Windows 10, the story might be different.

Are you Firefox crashes severe, i.e., the blue screen of death appears, or normal, i.e., the Mozilla Crash Reporter appears?

  • Blue screen crashes generally indicate a problem with a device drivers, most commonly the driver software for your graphics card or chipset. We can suggest workarounds for that if using Dell Support's updating page does not help.
  • For the Mozilla Crash Reporter, you can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash report IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.
