My laptop will not connect to public wifi at places like Panera Bread or McDonald's, but will connect at work using my wireless cable wifi or at home by using my phone as a hotspot. I would really like to use my laptop for video calling at some public locations.

Those places might have temporary login where you have to get user name and password from them or some login where you get login & password on your mobile as SMS.

This really is not a Firefox issue. It might help solve the issue is I know what model your laptop is.

You might have a block somewhere on your computer that is blocking public places.
