I am running Thunderbird 38.5.1. When Thunderbird downloads messages it downloads only headers. The messages download until I click on them, then, I have to sit there and wait for them to download. Thunderbird used to download entire messages. It was much more convenient, as I could leave the computer to download when I was doing something else, then flip through messages at light speed. Now, it is wait wait wait.

I've seen people use "server settings" and click off the "Fetch Headers Only" check. Only one problem.....on this version, "Server Settings does not have that option. The only "Server Setting" Check boxes are "Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every _____ minutes", and the 3 circle box "When I delete a message". "Automatically download new messages" and "Fetch headers only" check boxes are NOT there!!

"Automatically download new messages" and "Fetch headers only" are for pop account type only. You must have an imap account.
