I'd like to keep ALL my Thunderbird info (profiles, emails, settings, filters, etc etc ) on an external Hard Drive and access ALL of it from 2 different computers. My idea is to just plug the external HD drive into whichever computer I'm using and be able to proceed. I would install Thunderbird on both computers. It seems to me that it's just a matter of pointing the Thunderbirds to the external drive.

I like to download my emails, which usually takes them off whatever server they are coming from. Can only do that download once. Also, I'd prefer to avoid using any "clouds". I like to keep my info private.

I found the Thunderbird Profile on the computer running Windows 8, but can't seem to find it on the Windows 10 computer. On the Windows 8 computer,I tried substituting a windows shortcut named the same as the profile file name in the proper place, but Thunderbird didn't see it. Apparently couldn't follow the shortcut. When I put the "real" profile file back in place everything was still there (thank heavens!).

I'll greatly appreciate any guidance on this.

Thank you so much. S A Reid.
