Hi,

I am having trouble restoring bookmarks from the bookmark toolbar.

My computer crashed so I had to take the computer apart and made a backup straight from the harddrive manually.

However, I was not able to do any Firefox Sync nor have the time to re-organize my bookmarks on both bookmark menu and bookmark toolbars.

Now my computer is fixed and I would like to recover previously backed-up firefox bookmarks data AND combine with current saved bookmarks in the newly installed firefox. After checking the forum, I was unable to find a solution.

I have tried doing the following: 1. Restore from backups (only has what was inside bookmark menu but NOT the bookmark toolbar). Also another problem with this solution is that it replaces all my current saved bookmarks instead of merging the two set of data. 2. Copied and pasted old places.sqlite to new installed firefox profiles default folder, nothing shown up from old data.

Please help since most of my bookmarks from previous Firefox are saved under toolbar instead of menu which FIrefox automatically saves with a backup file. Thank you!

Firefox only automatically creates JSON bookmark backups, stored in the bookmarkbackups folder. Restoring a JSON backup will always replace all the bookmarks, so you can't use a JSON backup to merge bookmarks. If restoring a JSON backup isn't what you want then you need to create an HTML backup of the existing bookmarks and import this HTML backup afterward to merge that set of bookmarks.
