eg - typing "all of the things" into the Location Bar and pressing enter or clicking 'go to the address in the Location Bar' does not proceed to the results, it simply stays static. However, the menu item below the Location Bar displays 'all of the things - Seach with Google'.

Similarly entering a web address such as "www.google.com" does not navigate to the google homepage. Text appears in the menu item below the bar saying 'Visit http://www.google.com/'.

Additionally, keyboard shortcuts for entering addresses such as 'Ctrl + Enter' do not add the corresponding web-suffixes.

What search engine is selected in "Options/Preferences > Search"?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks for your help!

1. Google 2. The Safe Mode worked. Issue was the Twitter searchbar extension - I don't know how it got there in the first place, but I've removed it.

All ship-shape now.
