i cant get my bookmarks back after reformating and backing them up

i reformatted my computer so i backed up my bookmarks and now im trying to get them back but they are a file and my firefox is not wanting a file its wanting a JSON and i dont know what that is or what to do

What did you do to back up your bookmarks?
