When I reply to certain e-mails (not all) the status gets to "Delivering Mail" and never completes the sending. I am able to send e-mails to these addresses.

When replying to certain e-mails (only international customers) the status bar will get to "Delivering Mail" and stop. The "Mail sent" is never seen. Eventually the sending will time out and a "message sending failed" message appears. I can send e-mails to these addresses with no problems, it is only replies that fail.

Just a guess..... I think you will find you are sending new mail with one SMTP server entry and sending replies with another.

Right click your mail account in the folder pane and select settings. Right at the bottom of the accounts list is outgoing server (SMTP). click that. Do you have two entries?

I have several but the default is the same.

I did have two different reply servers but even when I set them to be the same the problem persisted.

Are there images in the messages you are replying to? Does removing them make any difference?
