Merely reinstalling Firefox shouldn't have resulted in losing any Firefox data. Although, reinstalling the operating system would have deleted that data.

What about another device that you used Sync with? Is the data still there?

And if you were using Sync as a backup media, that's not what Sync was designed to do.
