FF version 54 Memory Usage & Slow Broswer
Hello,
Since the upgrade to FF54 (64bit version), the memory usage by the browser keeps creeping up. After about 24hours the browser response becomes slow and jittery especially in yahoo email. I've restarted in Safe Mode but the same thing keeps happening. When first opening FF, it starts about about 400MB of memory usage and is now at 1.9GB and climbing.
I'm not a power user by any means and currently have 3 tabs open.

Hello,
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
- Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
- Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
- Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
It is also worth mentioning that there a number of significant improvements to the speed of browsing that are due to appear in Firefox 57 later this year.
Thank you.
I don't want to reset and lose all my add-ons and their settings.
Hi !
This could be caused by Multi-process (e10s)
If you are using e10s, you could turn it off as follows :
Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)
Type and search for the preferences :
browser.tabs.remote.autostart and set it's value to false (default)
browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 and set it's value to false
Note: the exact name of the preference may vary, but it will start with browser.tabs.remote.autostart
