Ver 55 is giving many users problems.

Downgrade to v54.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox?cache=no Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

FredMcD,

Thank you for your helpful reply. I didn't mention that this problem first manifested itself while I was using V53 so I upgraded thinking that might solve the problem, so I'm pretty sure it isn't just associated with V55.

Did you have any problem with v53 ?

Note that v55.0.2 is out, but . . . . . . .

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
