Can't setup account for a .solutions domain
I have an email account for my business using one of the recently introduced ".solutions" domains, so in my case the entire domain name is "[company].solutions", where [company] is the business name element that I registered for the domain. Mail Account Setup (manual setup) in Thunderbird flags the email address field "Double check this email address!" when filled out with the correct value for the address "enquiries@[company].solutions", which by itself is not the problem.
However, after I fill in the password and continue, it attempts to search for known configurations, during which the Manual Configuration button is visible, but if I click "Stop search" then the Manual Configuration button disappears. If I let it complete the search it fails to find anything, but the Manual Configuration button remains available. I click that, and fill out the IMAP & SMTP server details - mail.[company].solutions for both servers, the port and SSL details, authentication and usernames, all using details that work in other email clients.
However, I can't go any further, because the "Done" and "Advanced config" buttons remain greyed-out. Only "Retest", "Cancel" and "Get a new account" are available, and "Re-test" just repeats the search, which fails again. If I could just save the configuration it should work, as the exact same details are working in Outlook Express on Windows XP (just for testing, you understand) and Microsoft's Mail program on Windows 10. No error messages are visible other than the previously mentioned "Double check!" warning against the initial email address entry.
Thunderbird version is 52.3.0 (32-bit), it's being used on the same Windows 10 system as the successful Microsoft Mail setup, and the system is fully up to date with OS patches.

I've tried the setup and for me it works. Be sure to specify all the details, since Thunderbird cannot find them in its database of providers, so specify server name, port, SSL, authentication method and username for both your incoming and outgoing server. Once you have done that, the Done and Advanced Configuration options become available.

This is due to a bug in Thunderbird, bug 1379976. According to comment 3 in the bug, you only get a warning, but you can still setup the new account from the setup wizard.
I marked the answer as "Not Helpful", but only because it doesn't solve my particular problem. It was helpful to know about the length issue reported in that bug, and I do appreciate that.
However, and as I detailed in the original posting, in my case I can't see a way forward because the "Done" and "Advanced Config" buttons are greyed-out, which leaves me with no way to continue that I can see. If I'm wrong, I'd be very grateful for advice on how to get round that.

I'm going to mark this as Solved, although I believe there could still be a bug lurking in there somewhere. To explain further, I experienced hang-ups when clicking the "Manual configuration" button, so I let the auto search run to its conclusion, and it said it found a configuration, resulting in a setup with the wrong SSL settings, which couldn't send but could download mail. However, because it was now set up, it was easy to amend the server settings (IMAP & SMTP) to the right values, and everything now works as intended. I think my takeaway from this is to leave it to see if it manages to set up something that can then be tailored, rather than trying to jump straight in to manual configuration.
Going back to why I think there might still be a bug, when I was trying the manual configuration I had filled in all the right details, so I had:
Email address = enquiries@[company].solutions Password correctly filled out and double checked, Caps Lock definitely off :-)
IMAP server = mail.[company].solutions IMAP port = 993 with SSL/TLS, authentication set to auto username = enquiries@[company].solutions
SMTP server = mail.[company].solutions SMTP port = 465 with SSL/TLS, authentication set to auto username = enquiries@[company].solutions
I went back over that info several times looking for typos or something missing, but the buttons stayed greyed out.
However, now I have something that works, I'm reluctant to tear it down and start again to see if I can recreate the described situation. I figure that documenting everything I did, and the accidental workaround, together with your informative and helpful posts, should be useful for anyone who hits the same problem - even if I didn't manage to prove it was a different bug to the documented one. Oh, and I should have said that the settings I supplied above that wouldn't allow me to proceed in the Manual Configuration, are exactly what is now working in the saved configuration. As the Americans say, "go figure that one out" :-).
Final, final takeaway is: if the wizard won't save the right values, then enter something that can be saved, even if it's completely wrong, and go back and amend it later in the account settings.
