Before Mozilla Thunderbird, I was using MS Outlook Express (OE) to access my web-based email from my ISP. OE would connect to my ISP and download all the messages in my ISP webmail's Inbox. There was a setting in OE that would retain a copy of an email on the webmail Inbox even after OE had downloaded it.

Is there a similar setting that I can enable for Thunderbird?

Many thanks for any responses.

right click the account in the folder pane on the right and select settings. in server setting for the account there is an option to leave messages on the server for POP mail accounts.

There is no such setting for IMAP accounts as it is a given for those types of syncronised accounts.
