Search drop down bypasses safety how do you stop
I have Firefox 57.0.4 Yahoo set as home page but same happens with Google If yo use the large search bar with the spyglass logo at the end (Not the top url search bar) As soon as a single letter is entered you get 10 suggested sites ok id using letter A But try with Letter X and you get x rated sites offered. Thus by passing safety setup . How can you stop the search suggestion drop down .
I have tried clearing all history and settings and reset, It has nothing to do with browsing history. I have used cc cleaner and wiped disk free space and new install of fire fox and still get same 10 drop down suggestions.
Is there a setting in about: config to turn off this drop down.

It is not a bypass it is a feature which you have control over.
Copy/Paste about:preferences#search into your Address Bar then Enter Under Default Search Engine untick the 2 boxes.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Both the two boxes you reference are unticked I still get 10 suggested sites based on a single character entry. I did a lot of searching and have tried all the suggested quick fixes like this and cleared my history, your suggestion only stop s the search bar in top line from showing the drop down not from the main search bar Alongside the Yahoo! Logo
This clearly bypasses safety settings? see highlighted screen shot
Copy/Paste about:preferences#privacy into your Address Bar then Enter Under Address Bar untick what you want Above in History untick what you want
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
If this happens on the Yahoo website then you need to check the Yahoo setting to suppress the suggestions. You can't do this in Firefox.

Thank you for the screenshot. That search box in the Yahoo page itself. Unfortunately, Firefox's settings do not apply to that box, it is totally controlled by Yahoo. The same is true of other search engine sites: the search box in the page is controlled by the site, not by Firefox.
So it's especially strange that your preferences are not taken into account by the site, since it's their code. ??!!
Then why does Yahoo bypass the safety inside of Firefox?
I shall pursue |Yahoo as well if they answer I do not have much success with yahoo or google as this happens with google as well

I have to admit I don't understand your question. I thought you went into Yahoo settings and set it to use Safe Search --

-- and your question was why the search box suggestions didn't obey the Yahoo Safe Search setting.
