Below is what the Firefox icon looks like in my dock. It looks like a pad and pencils. I don't know why it changed and when I removed it from the dock and dragged a fresh one from Applications, I got the same result.

Mac OS High Sierra

If these steps aren't working then try to reinstall Firefox.

  • delete the Firefox icon from the dock
  • create a new icon by dragging the Firefox application to the dock

Download the full Firefox version and trash the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the Disk Image file to the desktop Firefox 58.0.2: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data When you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data When you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
