My home button, in my browser; will not open home page. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled firfox and it did not fix the problem.
Basically my Home button located at the top left of my Firefox browser will not work, meaning it will not take me to my home page when I click on it. I have already uninstalled all features and background files in Firefox and reinstalled a completely new version of Firefox and this did not fix my problem. What are the procedures to fix this problem? Thank-you for any assistance with this problem, Steve

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
What is your current home page setting?
You can check the home page setting:
- Options/Preferences -> General -> Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
Thank-you for trying to help me. I have started firefox in the safe mode and followed all the links and instructions that you kindly sent me, however I still have the same problem with my home button on firefox still not working. Is there anything else I can try that may fix the problem?

What happens when you click the button? Does it take you to some other page that you don't want, or does Firefox just sit there doing nothing?
Does the keyboard shortcut Alt+Home have the identical problem or does that work?

Just to be sure, the icon looks like a house, Yes?
Once again I humbly thank all who are trying yo help me.In answer to jscher2000 my Alt+Home will not work either. In answer to FredMcD Yes my home button looks exactly like the example that you sent to me . Thank-you both for trying to help me solve this problem. As I still have the same problem any continued effort on everyone's part will be greatly appreciated.
Use these links to create a new profile. Use this new profile as is. Is the problem still there?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-run-firefox-when-profile-missing-inaccessible

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.
In case everything that's been suggested so far should fail to solve the problem :
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
- Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
- Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
- Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Thank-you so much for trying to help me. I have tried all of the procedures that have been suggested so far, and have actually tried some of the suggested procedures twice. Unfortunately I still have the same problem, that is my home button will not open a home page. Any help with this and the help I have received up to this point is greatly appreciated.

Bummer !
But I wonder - earlier jscher2000 asked you :
" What happens when you click the button? Does it take you to some other page that you don't want, or does Firefox just sit there doing nothing? "
What is your answer ...... ?
Thank-you for asking. When I click on the home button it has no effect at all, nothing happens even if I try the alt+home buttons on my key-board. Once again thank-you for trying to help me out, I really appreciate all the help I can get and I hope I may be able to help someone else on down the road.
Hi, You did not answer a question as to what is your Home Page set to go to ? Would be helpful if look to see in Options as to the setting displayed.
Try this please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's(Win10)) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 58.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Thank-you for helping me. My home page is set for Firefox. Although I had done all of what you mentioned including uninstalling Firefox and I also use windows disk cleaner every 5 days, I noticed the sequence in which you told me to do repairs differed , so I performed the repairs in the manner that you instructed. While doing so I accidentally found an old Firefox data file from a previous uninstall in 2016 hidden in my secondary drive. How it got there I do not know as usually if I want a file in this drive I would have to choose to put it there, however I did not. I performed Guttman uninstall on the file and the present Firefox version which i was running. Then I followed the remaining instructions that you sent and Bless you i have SUCCESS. Thank- You so much as this problem was driving me crazy and I thank everyone who helped me to solve this issue
That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
