How to stop autofill on a challenge question

After I sign into my financial inst., I get a challenge question. Somehow, Firefox has started entering my password in the challenge question answer box. Mozilla instructions are to click on the box, press down arrow and past entries will show, which can then be deleted. That worked on my username field getting into the institutions site, but it does not work on the challenge question. I click on the box, press down arrow, and nothing happens. Why? I do not want my password (or anything else) to show up in that challenge question box.

I think it's because the Password Manager thinks it is filling in the password box.

Because this would be a secondary login, only someone with an account there could check this out.
